Round Two of the heavyweight fight against Dynasty came to head yesterday (Sun. April 22nd) at Tequesta Trace Park. Round One went to Dynasty Elite (3-5) back on Thursday, April 5th, where two home runs, including a 2-run homer by the Rattlers "Maroon" and a Grand Slam by Dynasty were recorded. But on Sunday, April 22nd a very different story was told.
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Rattlers "Maroon" and Dynasty Elite met for the second time in an important Divisional Game in the Florida Premier Baseball League. This was another exciting ball game, which exhibited high caliber baseball and great team spirit between the two squads. However, this time the outcome was very different. The Rattlers "Maroon" came out with a focus not seen before this year. While we have won many games and lost some others, this afternoon proved to be what the coaches considered their best game of the year! Each player was entirely focused right from the start of pre-game stretches and warm ups and all the way through the last out in the top of the 6th inning. This translated into a performance where nothing was left to chance.
Between the combined pitching gem of John "The Hammer" Ham, Freddie "Choppy" Sultan, Tommy "Big Papi" Taborda and Perry Littrell, Weston effectively shut down Dynasty's bats and only allow one run near the very end of the game (with two outs). Furthermore, the team demonstrated a defensive effort where there was only one error and included spectacular plays from John Ham & Rafael "Rafa" Amanau, Mike Tang and, a pro-level double play by SS, Brett Kean. Moreover, the Rattler bats all sung from the same hymm-book sendng multiple singles, doubles and triples all around the field. Finally, and this should never be underestimated, the team really conducted themselves with class and execution in the dug out. They all were in the game throughout and quickly sprayed out onto the fields each inning with vigor and enthusiasm!
In the end, the Rattlers "Maroon" continued atop of the 10C Division with an 8-1 victory and now stand at 11-1 with four games to go.
Congratulations Weston Rattlers "Maroon!"
Lets keep up the good work!
